The Blurb

SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH KAYLEE CAVANAUGH...

She can sense when someone near her is about to die. And when that happens, a force beyond her control compels her to scream bloody murder. Literally.
Kaylee just wants to enjoy having caught the attention of the hottest guy in school. But a normal date is hard to come by when Nash seems to know more about her need to scream than she does.

And when classmates start dropping dead for no apparent reason and only Kaylee knows who'll be next she realises that finding a boyfriend is the least of her troubles!

Opinions

Well guys, I have to say that this was one of the most gripping books I have ever read and believe me I've read a lot of books. I have to admit that I am not usually a person who gets into a books straight away but suprisingly with this one after the first page I couldn't put the book down. And I mean that litterally because I finished it in two days and I needed more of Kaylee and Nash A.S.A.P. so I went back to the library and got the next copy My Soul To Save (which I'll tell you about in another review). Anyway, I think we should all praise Mrs Rachel Vincent (I looked it up, she is a Mrs which is surprising because she looks so young) for creating this fantastic world for us to escape into. I don't know about you guys but I have never read a book on banshees before and it was a very interesting read because of that....

Anyway, you all probably would have guessed by now that the Soul Screamers series features banshees. We see the journey Kaylee takes from being a human to a Irish-Celtic myth bean sidhes (pronounced banshees) and Vincent really has done a good job of showing us how life changes when all you know about yourself was is lie. Furthermore, as you now might know, the myth describes a bean sidhe as 'women of the faeries' which is proved entirely inaccurate as there are more male bean sidhes in the book than female. The male and female bean sidhes together can do 'fantastic things' as Nash describes it but I won't tell you about that as the whole book is kind of built around that so it would spoil it for you.
The main charecters are all likeable (even the reapers e.g Tod and his boss Levi) and have their own unique charecters which we see build throughout the series. I even learnt to like Sophie (Kaylee's cousin) who has quite a mean charecter but her naive side makes up for that. Kaylee is naturally the heroine and in my case was very easy to connect with and that feeling is quite intense because I could picture myself in her shoes as the novel went on. She isn't the typical goody two shoes of a girl she has a bit of a rebel side as we first see when she sneeks into a night club through the back door which made me really connect with her as we all have avit of a naughty side in us. Moving on, the bad characters in the book such as Marge (I won't tell you more about her) are made very easy to hate by Vincent as she is hated by Kaylee, Nash and Tod.

All in all, the Soul Screamers definately makes my top 10 favourite book list as it has a bit of every genre in it and i definately reccomend it to all of you because it really is a book you shouldn't miss out on..
